The community of Madina witnessed a heartwarming display of unity, generosity and wellness during a recent health walk and fundraising event held in support of the upcoming Madina Festival.
Participants from all walks of life came together to promote a healthier lifestyle, raise awareness about the festival, and contribute funds to ensure its success. The event not only highlighted the importance of physical activity but also emphasized the power of a connected community in preserving cultural heritage.
The health walk was more than just a leisure stroll, as participants adorned vibrant festival-themed costumes and paraded through the streets of Madina. The route included visits to the Madina Chief’s palace (Sarki Alhaji Baba Seidu) and the Madina Zongo Chief’s palace (Sarki Ali Dada Dagadu), where they received words of encouragement and blessings.
Beyond the festive spirit, the health walk doubled as a fundraising effort to support the festival’s financial needs. Organizers collected donations from traders, friends, and well-wishers, pooling resources to ensure the festival’s success. The funds raised will be used to secure quality performers, organize engaging activities, and enhance the overall festival experience which is scheduled for the 8th to the 10th of September 2023.
