Chief Abdullai Ali Dagadu initiates first phase of “Project light up Madina Zongo”

The Chief of Madina Zongo, Chief Ali Abdullai Dagadu has initiated a project dubbed “Project light up Madina Zongo”. The initiative seeks to light up the dark spots in the Madina Zongo community to reduce petty crimes which has become a daily occurrence lately in the community.

The initiative commenced today with a mini event at the forecourt of the chief’s palace with a presentation of 52 street lights to assembly members of North Legon and Madina West electoral areas within the Madina Zongo community.

Presenting the street lights, Alhaji Dantani Kassim Mahmoud, the secretary to the Chief, presenting the street lights on behalf of the Chief, highlighted the importance of the street lights and how critical it is to improving the security situation in the community.

He said that “Street lighting is a critical aspect of any community’s development. It plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of citizens by illuminating roads, sidewalks, and other public spaces”

He added that “petty crimes have been a growing concern in many parts of Ghana and Madina Zongo is not an exception.

“The lack of adequate lighting has made it easier for criminals to carry out their illicit activities under the cover of darkness, causing anxiety and fear in residents”. He further stated

He thanked the Zongo Development Fund for partnering them in this all important initiative

He indicated that the 52 street lights will be handed over to the contractor under the supervision of the two assembly men and the Nasara coordinator of Madina Constituency to see that they are mounted at dark spots within the community.

He therefore called on all residents of the community to take ownership of the project and ensure that it is well maintained for the benefit of all.
