“Treason felony charge against Oliver ‘cynical’ – Akoto Ampaw

Counsel for Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, #FixTheCountry campaigner, Akoto Ampaw, has described the treason felony charge against his client by the court as ‘cynical’.

According to him in an interview with Graphicom.gh, the charges amounts to bad faith and he is however surprised, as his client was initially charge with offensive conduct but later appeared in court on Monday, February 14, 2022 only to hear the charge being changed to treason felony.

Background

Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, was picked up by the Tema Regional Police Command at the Kotoka International Airport after his arrival from London on Friday, February 11, 2022 for an utterances he made on his Facebook wall threatening the president of personally leading a coup d’etat in Ghana if he forces the passage of the E-levy bill.

He was however arraigned before court by the Ashiaman District Court on Monday, February 14, 2022, and was however charge with treason felony without bail.

He is said to re-appear before court on February 28, 2022.
