The Preliminary investigation by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has allegedly suspected and disclosed that the kidnapping of the pregnant woman in Takoradi was purported and hoax.
According to the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, in an interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kessben FM, the medical doctor who even looked at her at the time she was found, said the 29- year-old woman was not pregnant as reported.
“From their preliminary investigations, NIB suspects that this whole story was fake and that the medical doctor who has even looked at her revealed she wasn’t pregnant. That is the immediate information that we have. The police are still with her,” he said.
Background
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, the victim, Josephine Panyin Mensah, was said to have taken a morning walk as part of her daily routine from the Amanoo road to the Paa Grant Roundabout but did not return.
According to a close relative in an interview, efforts were however made in search of her until her mother one day received a strange call believed to be one of the kidnappers who told her they could not use her daughter for what they intended and so they have dumped her somewhere.
She was later found at Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region.
Meanwhile, the husband of the suspect however insist that his wife was pregnant before she went missing and so Ghanaians should debunk the claims that her pregnancy was faked.
