Pokuase ‘chop bar’ case: suspects granted bail

The ‘chop bar’ operaters who were arrested at the pokuase interchange has been granted bail by the Accra Regional Police Command yesterday.

According to the Public Relations officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), MS Juliana Obeng in an interview with Citi FM on Wednesday, the 60 year old Kwame Addo, and his daughter Comfort Dartey, 32, has been granted bail but has been cautioned for causing public nuisance. She said they are to appear at the police station today Thursday 26th August 2021 to assist the police in investigations.

“It’s a father and a daughter we arrested in connection with a chop bar being operated by these two persons. These two persons have been granted bill but they have been cautioned for causing a public nuisance. We are hoping to see them tomorrow (Thursday, August 26, 2021) and then we will continue with an investigation”, she said.

This followed after a viral video showed the two suspects operating a ‘chop bar’ on the pavement of the newly built Pokuase  four-tier interchange. The video which showed a man and a woman pounding ‘fufu’ on the pavement caused public outrage which later led to their arrest.
