A 9-year-old boy has been shot dead during a festival ritual in Awutu Bereku in the Central Region of Ghana.
According to one Mr. Joe, a relative of the deceased in an interview with Adom News this morning, the little boy was shot dead today on Monday morning 30th August 2021 by some traditional authorities who were allegedly performing rituals to purify the community ahead of the Awutu Awubia festival.
According to him, the traditional authorities were supposed to be shooting in the sky but he is now amazed on how they ended up shooting the deceased.
Reports have however indicated that two others are in critical condition and have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the Awutu Bereku District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joshua Semanyo has confirmed the incident and said the suspect has been arrested.
The deceased body Atta Know, has how ever been deposited in the police morgue for autopsy and for further investigations.
