UAE bans Ghana and 20 other African countries

A visa block has been imposed on Ghanaians and 20 other nationalities who want to go to Dubai with immediate effect, according to United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities.

Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic are other nations impacted by the visa restriction.

A notice issued on October 18, 2022, said “this is to inform you that we will not be posting 30 days visa applications for these nationalities effective today

Authorities stated that all applications should be refused in a notice sent to business partners, including travel agencies.

It further stated that any application from the countries mentioned above would be sent back or cancelled

No explanation for the UAE’s decision was provided, however insiders claimed the action was done to deter African nationals from abusing visit visas to overstay his welcome in the UAE.
