“Police storm home of Barker Vormawor” – #FixTheCountry movement

Pressure Group, and #FixTheCountry Movement have disclosed that the police together with Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the #FixTheCountry convener, now remanded in police custody, are ‘storming’ his residence to carry out various degrees of searches following his coup comment.

According to the group in its latest update on the convener’s arrest, the search is however undertaken at places where Barker-Vormawor has stayed or visited frequently.

“The police are carrying Mr Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor around to conduct various degrees of search in various homes, shops and offices.

“The search seems to cover places in Ghana where the police believe Mr Barker-Vormawor has lived, stayed or visited frequently.

“Mr Barker-Vormawor was sent to the Ashaiman Magistrate Court on Monday, February 14, 2022, on a charge of Treason Felony. He was arrested 3 days earlier and is still on hunger strike,” the group posted.

Background

Barker Vormawor was arrested on Friday February 11, 2022, at the Kotoka International Airport after he has arrived from London.

His arrest followed after he made a comment on his Facebook wall that if the government passes the controversial E-Levy, he will personally lead a coup in Ghana.

He was later arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on Monday, February 14, 2022, where he was slapped with a charge of treason felony.

He is said to reappear before court of February 28, 2022.
