A misunderstanding has occurred between a section of Ghanaians and Mzbel following an announcement she made on social media about two huge funeral rites she is planning to perform for her muslim father following his death.
According to her in a Facebook post on January 30, 2022, she has already been given the go-ahead from her uncle who is (Apagyehehe of Ekumfi Nanabin Twidan Royal Family, Nana Asare Oky3hen Yeboah l) to organize a one-week observation and two funeral ceremonies for her late father which according to muslim rules not acceptable.
She said the two huge funerals, will however take place in Ghana and Manchester posthumously.
“My Uncle has spoken! He is my daddy’s direct back born! Maame Ekua Bentuma Amoah. You are a princess. Your Uncle is Nana Asare Oky3hen Yeboah l, Apagyehehe, and Nana of Ekumfi Nanabin Twidan Royal Family. We will have a huge funeral back home in Ghana and here in Manchester! With my permission, you can go ahead with the one-week observation! #GeorgeAmoah # Uncle George”, she wrote.
Meanwhile, some section if Ghanaians, especially Muslims, upon chancing on her post reacted and condemned her plan. According to them, per the doctrines of Islam, Mzbel needs to solemnly mourn her father and rather channel all monies intended for the funerals to charity.
This however caught the attention of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, Hajia Mussybaby MJ Adams to also condemn the plan of Mzbel saying she needs to obey her father’s order.
“Dear Mzbel there’s no better gift a daughter can give her father than obeying he’s order. Thus on funeral, 3 days, 1 week or whatsoever. Honour your father’s will and u will be blessed. Don’t try and go against he’s will as people are ordering you to. Kindly do as he says and you will be rewarded, but if u wish to please the world and reject your father’s will, that’s your business”, Hajia wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile in response, Mzbel asked Hajia Mussybaby to however channel her concerns to her uncle since he was the one who formally gave her the go-ahead.
“Hajia at this point I’m lost and confused! My Uncle in Manchester, Nana Asare Oky3hen Yeboah l Apagyehehe, Nana of Ekumfi Nanabin Twidan Royal Family. Again the Chief of the Mfanteman Association of the Greater Manchester UK. Wants us to honor my Dad with a funeral… please reach out to him”, she responded.
Earlier in January 27, 2022, singer and radio presenter Mzbel, was on her live Odo Nsor show on Onua FM when she received a message that her father is dead.
It was however an emotional sight as she couldn’t control her tears which therefore made her to beg her listeners and called off the show.
