The Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak, has disclosed that Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, will be leaving to Dubai for medical review.
According to him, Bagbin will leave Accra on January 29, 2022 and so the house should however stop wasting time in order for a general consensus to be made on the controversial Electronic Transaction (E-Levy) before he leaves.
“Everybody in leadership, unless you pretend not to know, you know Speaker has to go for his review. Are you going to waste all the time until Speaker leaves for his review? Then you now turn again and say the Speaker is not willing to help the government.
“So far as I am concerned he is leaving this weekend”, the Minority Chief Whip said.
Meanwhile, when asked whether his colleagues did not know that, he responded: “That is why I am surprised, for them to say they don’t know. How will he (Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu) say that he doesn’t know?”
This will however be Bagbin’s third trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for his medical attention. One could recall in last year when his first absence caused a lot of chaotic scenes in the house because of the lack of general consensus to be made on the E-levy.
