One Saloon Car, a tricycle, bicycle and some tanks containing petrol and diesel have gone up in flames near the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation limited (BOST)
The fire which occurred at a station less than 20 meters from one of the storage tanks at BOST premises where illegal trading of petrol and diesel is being carried out is said to have started at about 2:15 pm on Tuesday and could have spread to the BOST premises close by, but for the timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Operations Officer at Industrial Area Fire Command, Assistant Divisional Officer One, Paul Baidoo said it took two fire tenders 20 minutes to douse the fire after they received a call
Upon their arrival, personnel from the GNFS realized that the fire was emanating from where the petrol and diesel sellers close to BOST were located.
The Operations Officer also noted that despite several warnings from the Service to the illegal fuel traders to halt their activities, the traders have refused to stop their illegal business.
He said however that no casualties were recorded.
