A female police officer with the Paga Unit at Bawku in the Upper East Region named Constable Regina Angenu, has been short by some unknown assailants on January 22, 2022.
According to the police confirming the news through a report on Monday, 24, 2022, there were reports of sporadic fatal shooting in Bawku over the weekend forcing the Defense Minister to impose a curfew on the town. Meanwhile, on that faithful day, Constable Regina was on her way to pay a visit to the barracks at about 5:05 pm of one Constable Erasmus Enkson at the Bawku Division of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service where on her way, she was attacked by those assailants and was shot in the groin.
“On their way to Const. Enkson’s barracks, they were attacked by unknown assailants and the policewoman was shot in the groin”, the report stated.
She was however rushed to the Presbyterian Mission Hospital for treatment but unfortunately, she passed away. Her body has since been transported to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital “for autopsy and preservation”.
Meanwhile, the state of Const. Enkson was not mention in the report.
