The reigning African Champions Algeria face a shock exit from the ongoing 2021 African Cup of Nations after losing to Equatorial Guinea last Sunday night.
The tough game produced an unexpected results as Equatorial Guinea won 1-0 in the second half by Esteban Obiang who slid in at the far post to convert a flick-on and scored the only goal with 20 minutes left in Douala.
The Algerians has already had two goals disallowed and must win their final group match against the elephants of Ivory Coast. These two teams met at the quarter finals in 2019 and Algeria won on penalties.
In 2015, Equatorial Guinea reached the Nations Cup semi-finals as hosts. But having qualified for the tournament by right for the first time and this will go down as one of their biggest results in their history.
Thursday’s final round of games will be fascinating, with Equatoguineans facing the Leone Stars in Limbe at the same time as Algeria take on Ivory Coast in Douala (16: 00GMT).
