Nabco Trainees to embark on Demonstration

Trainees under the nations builders Corp otherwise known as Nabco,  is set to embark on nationwide demonstration to demand their unpaid allowance and delay in marking them  permanent.

The collation of Nabco trainees who is the organisor of the demonstration said they want to express their frustrations to the government by demonstrating on the street because demonstration is the only language that the government understands.

This demonstration comes at the back of a statement made by the minister for information,  Kojo Oppong Nkrumah , that he is not sure when trainees will be paid.

However , he was quick to add that the government is set to recruit new cohort for the program.

The current trainees have their stipends in arrears for more than four months with a lot of unfulfilled promise to pay from the government.

The NABCO initiative is a government of Ghana program to provide on the job training and experience to graduates to better prepare them for the job market after their 3 year contract expired.

In the run up to the 2020 elections, the government promised to absorb the 100,000 trainees into the mainstream employment sector at the expiration of their contract.

One year after the election , trainees were asked to go home, a decision which faced a fierce lashes from the trainees and a section of the media.

The government reconsidered its decision to lay them off and asked them to stay as management finds a better way to deal with the issue.

After more than four months no communication has been received from management of the scheme.

This makes  graduates to have their faith hangs in the balance.

They believe demonstration is the only way out now hence they call on all trainees to get involved
