The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has distanced of any blame relating to the brawl recently in the house over the imposition of the 1.75 percent electronic transfer levy.
According to the Speaker, he has worked as a leader of the house to conduct business and have fairly applied all rules.
At a press briefing yesterday December 23, 2021, the Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, questioned the motives of the Speaker for leaving his seat on Monday December 20, 2021 without prior notice to the house.
He therefore insisted that the is possible the Speaker is intentionally carrying out plans to stall the business of the house due to his insistence on the Finance Minister to allocate 1.72 billion Ghana cedis to Parliament.
Moreover, Mr Mensah blamed him for the chaos that characterized in the house.
“I am not a Chief Whip of any of the caucuses in the house and for that matter don’t duty-bound to bring in members to the chamber” the Speaker said.
