The Board of Directors and Governing Council of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) has appointed Professor Isaac Abeiku Blankson as new President for the next five year term.
Professor Blankson takes over from Dr Christopher Akwaa-Mensah whose term has ended.
Pro Vice Chancellor of Ghana Communication Technology University (GTUC), he rejoins AUCC where he used to be Vice President, Academic. He holds a PhD in Communication from Ohio University and has extensive experience in programme and curricular development, media training and research, business communications, public relations and strategic communications.
Before relocating to Ghana, Professor Blankson was chairman of the Department of Applied Communication Studies, University of Illinois, in the USA.
In Ghana, Professor Abeiku Blankson has served or chaired several panels of the National Accreditation Board to review communication programmes for a number of universities, and currently chairs, since 2018, the Ghana Innovation Hub. For a period he was External Examiner for the School of Communication Studies, University of Ghana.
Prof Blankson has a number of publications to his credit.

For Professor Blankson, ‘leading AUCC to achieve the ultimate dream of the founder has been a pre-occupation of mine, and I am happy to finally be back to the university. The communication landscape has changed completely and we need a new direction to meet the gaping challenges.
AUCC, which was founded by Hon Kojo Yankah in 2002 with 60 Diploma students, now has a population of 1,500, offering Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Communication Studies and 3 Business programmes.
Professor Isaac Abeiku Blankson will be officially inducted into office on 1st October, 2021.
